Lynette is a licensed clinical social worker with a bachelor’s degree in social work from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and a master’s in social work from Aurora University with a dual emphasis in child/family and psychiatric social work.
DeKalb community is her roots, and she is happy to have worked in DeKalb for the past 12 years. She is especially proud to be serving patients at the DeKalb Clinic for the past 4 years and to be part of a professional staff that has taken care of all of her medical needs since childhood.
Lynette has a general practice and welcomes anyone who is interested in better managing life’s stress. Lynette feels strongly about recognizing the system associated with any one problem and makes every effort to help clients look at the “big picture.” She frequently assists with parenting, women’s issues, depression and anxiety and has a special interest in helping families cope with loss and care for ill loved ones.
Lynette’s certifications include training as a F.A.M.I.L.Y. Rules counselor that teaches parenting skills to those with children of all ages. She also received certification as a Level I Equine Assisted Psychotherapist by a worldwide organization called EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association). When traditional office therapy seems to need more, horses are used for experiential psychotherapy in the stable. She is in partnership with Harnessing Hope in Elburn while doing individual and group therapy in an equine setting. Horses are powerful and special animals that have a permanent role both personally and now professionally in her life.
Personally, Lynette is married and has two children. She is actively involved in her family life including school, 4-H, horse showing and trail riding, church, and Girl Scouts.
