Dr. Velez graduated from Harvard University and completed her medical degree at the University of Wisconsin. She graduated from the Medical University of Ohio General Surgery program and is now a Board Certified general surgeon. She provides a full range of general surgery services. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease but offers a full range of surgical services including, general abdominal surgery such as gallbladder, colon, rectal, and appendectomy as well as skin and soft tissues thyroid, parathyroid, and hernias. Dr. Velez joined DeKalb Clinic in July 2003 and she is on the medical staff at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. In her free time, she sings with the Prairie Echoes Chorus of DeKalb.
